CAMPING · THE PARK AT OCEAN RANCH · 31 DEC 2026

CAMPING MUSIC FESTIVAL IN COSTA RICA.

Dawn over tents and parked cars in wooded camping blocks

It is four in the morning and somebody switches off a headlamp so their eyes can take the dark. Thirty metres away the stage has not dropped a single notch. The tent is right there, in sight, and that is why nobody is leaving yet.

Camping is on site at The Park at Ocean Ranch, where the Pool and Main stages run in sequence. A current site layout is not available; camping placement and the positions of services are not shown on a published map.

Camping essentials

0 m

From car to tent

You park inside your own spot. The gear comes off right there and the car doubles as storage, as a wardrobe and as the plan B for when canvas gets difficult.

31→1

One camp setup

Doors open at 12:00 on 31 December and campers stay until 11:00 on 1 January. You put camp up once, take it down once, and in between nothing has to move.

What camping here actually means

With a tent

This is what the land is built around. You get there early, park in your block, put everything up in daylight and then stop thinking about logistics until the next morning.

If you have never camped, this is an easy night to start on. The car is right there, the site is small and there are people ten metres away in every direction. What it asks for is gear, not skill, and the gear is listed in what to bring.

Coming as a group helps more than it sounds: four people carry a camp without suffering, one minds the site while the other parks, and by the end somebody is always in shape to drive.

If you will not camp

You can be there without sleeping there, and it is worth saying straight: the plan is not designed for that.

Driving at four in the morning after hours on your feet is the worst part of any festival, and around here the last stretch is not a town street with a lamp post every twenty metres. If you still prefer a hotel, settle who drives and what time you leave before you arrive. Nobody wins that conversation at four in the morning.

The other thing you give up is the strange half. Between three and six the site goes quiet and heavy at the same time, and only the people who stayed get that part.

Other festivals with camping in the country

Camping at a festival is nothing new here. Envision, in Uvita on the southern Pacific, has been taking in people who turn up with a tent for years, and other gatherings along the coast run their own arrangement. The rules change from edition to edition, so before you buy gear it is worth reading it on each one's own page. What we could not find, and part of why this exists, is a camping music festival in Costa Rica given over to bass and dubstep alone. The comparison by region and genre sits in music festivals in Costa Rica.

Camping questions that reach us

Is camping separate from the ticket?

Tickets are on sale now. Choose your night and buy tickets for La Selva del Bajo at The Park at Ocean Ranch. What has been settled since the design stage is that sleeping on the land is part of the plan, not an add-on you go and source somewhere else.

Can I sleep in the car instead of a tent?

Yes, and with this humidity plenty of people find it more comfortable. You park inside your own spot, so the car is a legitimate option. A sleeping pad inside changes the night the same way it would in a tent, and you need the earplugs either way.

Are there showers?

Showers are not confirmed. Bring wipes, a big bottle of water and your own essentials.

What if it starts raining before dawn?

On the Pacific side a clear night is the likely one, but likely is not certain. Pitch on level ground, put the rain fly on from the start even if it feels pointless at four in the afternoon, and keep dry clothes in a plastic bag. If it catches you with none of that, the car is the shelter.

Go back to the one with the headlamp off, at four in the morning. That person arrived from 12 pm and pitched everything in daylight, which is why they were still standing at that hour instead of fighting an aluminium pole.

If you can already picture sleeping there

Near Jacó, on 31 December 2026: doors and camping at 12 pm, official music until 3 the next morning, with campers staying until 11 am on January 2. Tickets are on sale now. Choose your night and buy tickets for La Selva del Bajo at The Park at Ocean Ranch. In the meantime, what the heat, the damp and the dark do to a full New Year’s visit is in open-air festival, the area and its options in camping in Jacó, and the whole month in December music festivals.
