FREQUENTLY
ASKED.

We already know what you are about to ask, because we hear it every day. Here are the real answers about La Selva del Bajo, the bass and dubstep camping festival near Jacó, Costa Rica. If your question is not here, message us.
The basics
What is La Selva del Bajo?
A bass festival built only around dubstep and experimental bass, with camping, outdoors near Jacó. Doors and camping at 12 pm, official music from 12 pm to 3 am across two stages, people asleep among the trees. We keep it small on purpose: right now the crew can run gatherings for 500 people, and that number is the whole point. It will sell out.
When is the New Year's edition?
December 31, 2026 and January 1, 2027 at The Park at Ocean Ranch near Jacó. Choose either night or both in the ticket shop.
Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets are on sale now. Choose your night and pass, complete checkout, and receive your purchase confirmation by email. Your tickets will be emailed 7 days before the event.
How much are tickets?
The ticket shop shows current prices, available tiers and taxes. Each night has its own tiers; when one sells out, the next opens at a higher price.
Where is the venue?
Once your ticket is confirmed and the date is close. That is when the exact meeting point arrives, along with how to get there. We hold that back until the end because it protects the land and the headcount. Until then, the only public detail is the area: The Park at Ocean Ranch, 13 minutes from Jacó on the Puntarenas coast.
The night and the site
Is it only dubstep and bass?
Yes, and that is the whole idea. At most Costa Rica parties dubstep gets a two-hour block around midnight and that is it. Here bass is the full lineup. When you sign up you vote for your favorite genre between dubstep, weird bass, and drum and bass, and name three artists. That count runs live on the home page, and we actually pay attention to it.
Do I have to camp?
No. You can sleep there or leave the second your battery dies. Either way, get ready to be outside from the afternoon of 31 December until the morning of January 1: heat by day, humidity by night, rain is possible, and there is not much light off the stage. If you are driving home, settle who drives before you leave the house.
What should I bring?
A tent if you are camping, something for the rain, a headlamp, water, earplugs, bug spray, your own essentials, and bags to carry out everything you brought in. Closed shoes, always. The full packing list, with what is allowed and what is not, goes out with the arrival instructions.
How is the site laid out?
A current festival layout is not available. See the venue location on Google Maps to find The Park at Ocean Ranch.
What happens with trash?
We carry it all out. No exceptions. Bring bags for your own garbage and leave your spot the way you found it. The cleanup crew comes through after the last drop for shared space. What is in your tent is on you. This is open ground, with everything that lives on it.
Joining in
How do updates reach me?
By email and WhatsApp. You accept both permissions separately, and both are required, because what matters goes out on both channels. After you sign up you get a WhatsApp confirmation, and you can ask the assistant questions right there. To opt out, message the same number.
I am a DJ, producer, or visual artist. How do I apply?
Through the open call. We take mixes, tracks, portfolios, or video from DJs, producers, live acts, VJs, performance artists, and whatever does not fit those boxes. Sending your submission does not confirm anything yet, not a booking, not payment, not a lineup slot. That gets worked out directly with the organizers.
Can I help as a volunteer?
Yes. On volunteer you sign up for setup, cleanup, or both. Setup builds the stage, decor, and shared spaces before the bass starts; cleanup packs it down and leaves the grounds the way they were. Exact times get shared before the event.
How do invites and the QR work?
Sign up on invite and you get a code, a link, and a QR card with your name on it. Every completed signup through your link adds two points and moves you up the ambassador leaderboard. Certain tiers unlock food and drink credit and a VIP upgrade, in limited numbers. Finding bassheads out here takes money and time, so every invite counts.
What language is everything in?
Spanish and English, both. The site, the WhatsApp messages, and the crew run in each. Jacó pulls in a lot of people from elsewhere, and the bass scene here grew out of ticos and foreigners mixing, so nobody gets left behind.
